I have been out again playing and driving it today and it really has improved it, I was worried I might be imagining it, but no, it is definitley better.

You have to get the fluid up to temperature - it tells you how to check this, and then as you reset the first few pages (can't remember what ones) but they are deep in the box itself- you can hear a lot of clunking and clanging from the box - it is a little disconcerting, and I actually felt the box push against Park a few times, then all goes quite, the screen changes and you move to the next one. I had two laptops, one on the ross tech site to read the instructions as there are links embedded to images showing you what the pages should look like, and one actually running VCDS - probably a bit over the top, but I was a bit nervous. You need to make sure you have the right page for your gearbox - you can check this when you access the transmission tab on VCDS and then the instructions - think it quotes it as 02E.(check that) You sit in the car engine running, foot on brake throughout, and toggle through the reset pages of the listed components. If you google 'DSG reset ross tech', there is a step by step guide, it really is quite straightforward. I was wary - like you, but just had a brave moment.

Hi tt ted, I've similar issues with my 3.2 and have a full version of VCDS, I'm a little wary of just plugging in to do the DSG readaptation so what's involved and any prereading available - it sounds straight forward but! Yes I believe it only works on the full version. Hope this gives confidence / helps someone else to give it a go! Lastly had look at my chain stretch numbers, -3 Inlet and -4 Ex, i can live with that on a 83k engine!

Will update this thread if i see any other differences. Can't really comment on whether that had had any effect yet. Most importantly the shaking appears to have gone completely! I will continue to test over the coming days but so far it does look good.Īfter the DSG I also reset the throttle body. It definitely gets through the gears better, and i hadn't really thought there was an issue there, but its changes are seem-less now. Now, i can't say it has completely eliminated the snatchiness, but i would say its a 75% improvement, much much less snatchy - smoother into low speed.

Only took 10 mins, and then a good 30-40 minute adaption drive.

I was quite prepared to do the DSG refurb, but got my hands on a Ilexa Vagcom cable for a good price, so went about resetting the DSG as per Ross Tech instructions.Īs others have said there is a lot of clunking and almost lurching in park, but stick with it, it does do exactly as Ross tech say. The car was occasionally a little jerky on pull away, but more noticeably suffered the shaking mostly when in slow moving traffic and engine warm. This post is for info and confidence of others really
